Brumby Skirt, Megan Nielsen

One daughter bought me some Liberty Tana Lawn Sketch in white and blue to make two garments for her sister.The blue one was supposed by the presentee daughter to become a skirt.

Her whishes conformed to the Brumby skirt pattern by Megan Nielsen which has gotten a lot of good reviews. The pdf pattern is well made and easy to put together.

I was so lucky to take part at a wonderful sewing bee with IsaLaBella, Mel and Anni near Bodensee over last saturday and sunday.

 There, I sewed this well made pattern with its cute pockets.

I like the rounded placket and the exposed zip.

French seams and a narrow hem (Bernina foot #66) are details I love.

Me-Made-May'16 days 19-31

Dear sewing fellows,

nearly one other month has gone since Me-Made-May'16 and I missed to show the last twelve days.

May 19 Blouse Bruyère, Deer+Doe
I still love the lovely thin lawn of Annakabazaar and enjoy wearing this shirt which is veiling my hips quite well.

May 2o Colette Patterns' Peony Dress
I made this dress some years ago. The neckline is quite nice and the wool crepe makes it easy to wear when a black garment is needed.

May 21 Archer Shirt, Version B, Grainline and Ginger Jeans, Closet Case Files.
The lovely Liberty Tana lawn and the cute derrière ruffle add up to a comfortable shirt. The high cut jeans are made out of a thin dens linnen with elastan. The waist band sadly is too wide, but it is a very versatile piece of my wardrobe.

May 22 Alma blouse, Sewaholic
This little blouse was made out of a liberty remnant. The little cap sleeves are providing good protection against burning sun.

May 23 Camì Dress, Pauline Alice
The fit of this dress is rather bad, but I so love the fabric with it's little teapots, cups, saucers, spoons and sugar cubes.

May 24 I love to wear my BleuetRobe , Deer+Doe
You can see that I love Liberty Tana Lawn! The shirt dress pattern is cute and very well fitted. There is no waist line; so sitting at the couch in the evening is not uncomfortable.

May 25 At our trip to Etna, I protected myself against the wind with my old unlined coat McCall M5525. You cannot see my white linnen shirt B4985 I once had sewn inspirated by Carolyn's lovely versions. Repeat of the linnen Ginger jeans.

May 26 Malvarosa Dress, Pauline Alice.
This was my last year's favorite dress.

May 27 Moana Dress, Papercut Patterns.
My new summer dress. The italian linnen is quite stiff and combined with the pattern not so flattering, but I love it.

May 28 Flora Dress, ByHandLondon.
This liberty dress is calling summer to me.

May 29 This viskose knit dress is a staple of my wardrobe (Garçonne).

Why the Anna dress is not the first dress I would chose to wear I don't know. Maybe the mille fleurs print with this pattern is too granny-like? 

May 31 last day of Me-Made-May'16 and of our holidays. Travelling was so comfortable in my new Guise Pants, Papercut Patterns. I paired it with another little blouse, Datura by Deer+Doe.

I loved taking part at this great international group of sewers at Instagram. However, there was a huge quantity of participants and I missed the cozy group of flickr where I had participated last year and where I had found a lovely handful of international sewing friends. I hope finding them all next year maybe at Instagram?

I had no difficulty wearing selfmade clothes every day. My intention had been to improve my ability of taking pictures. Sadly I have to admit to have failed this. I think I will try next year again!

Meissa Blouse, Papercut Patterns

Two years ago, I discovered providing Liberty tana lawn internationally. It is such a lovely quality for blouses.

Vor zwei Jahren entdeckte ich, dass man den Liberty Batist ja aus England bestellen kann. Die feine Qualität eignet sich sehr gut für Blusen.

I loved the Meissa Blouse by Papercut Patterns immediately: a floaty blouse with front shoulder yokes and back yoke with gathers, slightly waisted silhouette, collar with collar stand and small sleeve cuffs.

Den Meissa Blusenschnitt von Papercut Patterns mochte ich von Anfang an: leicht taillierte, luftige Bluse mit vorderen Schulterpassen und hinterer Passe mit Kräuselung, Kragen mit Steg und schmalen Ärmelmanschetten.

It is a shame that my pictures are so badly exposed. Have a look at the lovely shoulder yokes!

Leider sind die Bilder alle überbelichtet. Schaut mal, was für hübsche Schulterpassen der Schnitt hat!

The wind didn't let me take nice pictures. Here you can see the paired buttons. The collar I sewed after the Archer Sew Along by Grainline.

Das stürmische Wetter hat mich beim Fotografieren gestört. Hier könnt Ihr die paarweise angeordneten Knöpfe sehen. Den Kragen nähte ich nach dem Archer Sew Along von Grainline.

This older picture shows the nice fit. I sewed all seams as French seams using the 1/4inch-foot and adjusting the needle position to get the right distance of 0,5cm.

Auf diesem älteren Foto sieht man den guten Sitz besser. Alle Längsnähte sind als französische Nähte gearbeitet. Dafür nutze ich den Quiltfuß und verstelle die Nadelposition so, dass der Abstand stimmt (hier 0,5cm).

I shortened the blouse by 7cm and sewed the hem with my rolled hem foot.

Ich habe die Bluse um 7cm gekürzt und den Saum mit dem Schmalsaumfüßchen genäht.

Der Schnitt ist nicht zu weit, aber noch locker genug für einen bequemen Sitz. Die Arme kann man ungehindert heben. Ich habe daher die Taillierung auch für den Archer-Schnitt übernommen.

The pattern is not too loose but roomy enough to be comfortable. The arms can be lifted easily.

Strickjacke mit Schalkragen zum MeMadeMittwoch

schnell ein paar Fotos zum heutigen MeMadeMittwoch, den heute Wiebke mit einem Freudensprung anführt (leider war mein rechter Ärmel hochgerutscht).

Diese Strickjacke habe ich aus einem wunderbar kuscheligen, leichten Wollstrick nach dem Liesl-Maritime-Shirt-Schnitt genäht.

I made this cardigan out of a wonderful wool knit using the Liesl Maritime Shirt pattern.

Ich habe einen einfachen Schalstreifen mit der Webkante über den Halsausschnitt und die Vorderkanten genäht. In Taillenhöhe habe ich dabei Raffbändchen und Bindebänder mitgefasst, die ich aus vier Zentimeter breiten Streifen aus Seideresten des Cinema Dress mit je 1cm NZ genäht hatte. Das hatte ich bei der Jacke einer Mitnäherin gesehen.

I just added a simple scarf piece at the fronts and neck using the selvedge. and added some small silk strips leftover from my Cinema Dress to keep the scarf together and some tie strips. I had seen this at a cardigan of a sewing fellow.

Der Kuschelschal ist mir ein wenig zu voluminös, wird mich aber wahrscheinlich schön warmhalten, wenn es kälter wird.

Maybe the scarf is a little bit too bulky, but probably will keep me warm when weather will get colder.

Bionic Gear Bag

Hello dears,

Schon vor längerem hatte ich einer Tochter ein hübsches Schminktäschchen nach dem Bionic Gear Bag Schnitt genäht, das sie immer benutzt.

Sometimes ago, I had sewn a lovely cosmetic bag for my daughter, using the Bionic Gear Bag pattern.

Für mich selbst wollte ich ein entsprechendes Täschchen für meine Nähutensilien machen, um bei Nähtreffen leichter alles beisammen zu haben.

I had in mind to make myself one collecting all of my sewing bits when going to a sewing bee.

Bei dem sehr netten Nähkränzchen bei der lieben Mel von 500 Days of Sewing mit Anni, IsaLaBella und Anja machte ich mich endlich dran. Schaut Euch IsaLaBellas hübsches Täschchen an, das bei der Annäherung-Süd sehr bewundert worden war. Meine Tochter hatte mir ein hübsches Maßband und eine Stickschere in hübscher Hülle von Liberty geschenkt, sodass ich mir den Stoff und einen passenden Futterstoff bei meinem Liberty's Besuch vor ein paar Wochen besorgte. Als Wattierung nahm ich Soft and Stable, für die Verstärkung des Futters Vlieseline H250, die ich bei den Seitenteilen doppelt aufbügelte. Beim ersten Täschchen hatte ich dafür ein schabrackenähnliches Material genommen, das ein wenig besser war. Die kleinen Reißverschlüsse hatte ich von einer größeren Bestellung an RV Sets, den langen bekam ich netterweise von Mel, die ihn auf dem Coats-Ausverkauf erstanden hatte.

So I sewed my bag at a very nice sewing bee at Mel`s. Anni, IsaLaBella and Anja were our other sewing fellows. Look at IsaLaBella's pretty bag! My daughter had given me cute little scissors in a little Liberty slip and a measuring tape, so I had purchased the fabric and corresponding lining fabric at my visit at Liberty's some weeks ago. I used Soft and Stable for batting and Vlieseline H250 to inforce the lining, using two layers for the side pieces.

Natürlich wurde ich bei unserem wunderbaren Nähtreff nicht fertig und beendete das Teil an einem Abend zu Hause. Ich hatte mich schon die ganze Zeit unbewusst gewundert, warum das Muster so dezent ist und merkte erst vor dem Annähen der RV-Tabs, dass ich den Außenstoff mit der linken Seite nach außen aufgenäht hatte! Ja, da muss man eigentlich lachen! Es war unmöglich, alle Nähte noch einmal aufzutrennen. Ich habe dann einfach einen neuen Außenstoff zugeschnitten und obendrauf genäht.

I finished the bag at home, wondering subconsciously why the print would be so muted. When finished, I realised having sewn the outer fabric wrong side out! Yes, you have the right to laugh! It was impossible to unpick all those seams. I cut another outer piece and added it on top of the other.

Sieht gar nicht so schlimm aus. Jetzt habe ich bei Nähkränzchen vielleicht mal endlich alles dabei?

 

It hasn't gotten too bad, has it? Hopefully, I will be able now to go to a sewing be without forgetting anything?

der schöne Spätsommer geht langsam in einen goldenen Herbst über. Die Strumpfhosen sind endgültig aus dem Sommerquartier geholt und es ist Zeit für Wollwalk-Jacken.

late summer is slowly changing over to a golden autumn. Thights are taken out of the summer grounds and it is the time for wool felt jackets.

Ich hatte Montag mein La Sylphide Kleid an, der Schnitt ist von Papercut Patterns aus der Covent Garden Kollektion.
Monday, I wore my La Sylphide Dress, pattern by Papercut Patterns.

Es ist mein zweiter Versuch. Zuerst hatte ich einen Seide-Baumwoll-Print vom Stoffmarkt vernäht. Leider sah das ganze Kleid ziemlich traurig aus, was vielleicht an der zu großen Größe, aber auch an der hellgrauen Farbe lag. Außerdem hielt der Stoff das Tragen nicht aus und riss an mehreren Belastungsstellen; ich habe das Kleid entsorgt.

It is my second attempt. At first, I had sewn a silk-cotton print. The worn dress looked desolate, maybe due to the big size and the greyish colour, too. In addition, the fabric didn't endure the wear and ripped; so I threw it out.

Bei diesem Kleid aus einem reduzierten Liberty Tana Lawn habe ich im Oberteil eine Größe reduziert, und im Rückenteil sehr viel Länge herausgenommen. Dabei hatte ich die Brustabnäher als SBA schmaler genäht. Ich würde beim nächsten Mal das Oberteil noch 1cm kürzen.

This time, I sewed my dress out of a Liberty Tana lawn, cut the bodice one size smaller, shortened the back bodice and narrowed the front Darts as SBA. Another time, I would shorten the bodice by another 1cm.

Pattern/Schnitt: La Sylphide Dress, Covent Garden Collection by Papercut Patterns.
Size/Größe:        Oberteil/Bodice XS
                            Skirt: S
Fabric/Stoff:      Liberty Tana Lawn Tomary (Sewbox)

Alterations:       front darts 0,75cm narrower, bodice narrower, back bodice shortened.
                           Next time I will shorten the bodice by 1cm.

Änderungen:     Brustabnäher jeweils 0,75cm schmaler,
                           Oberteil schmaler, rückwärtiges Oberteil kürzer.
                           Nächstes Mal werde ich das Oberteil 1cm kürzen.

Dazu habe ich eine Walkjacke von meinen Nähanfängen getragen. 

I dressed it with an old wool felt jacket.

Sie ist an allen Nähten knappkantig abgesteppt, nachdem die Nahtzugaben zu einer Seite gebügelt wurden. Dann wurde die untere Nahtzugabe knapp abgeschnitten, wieder abgesteppt und die zweite Nahtzugaben abgeschnitten. Das sieht aus aus wie eine Kappnaht und die Jacke ist auch ohne Futter von innen schön, die Nähte werden sehr stabil.
So sieht die Jacke geschlossen aus:

All seams are pressed to one side, topstitched, inner seam allowance cut, second top stitch seam, second SA cut. This way, it looks like felled seams and the seams get very firm.The jacket looks nice at the inside without lining.

Emery Dress, Christine Haynes, MeMadeMittwoch

Mein Emery Kleid von Christine Haynes trage ich sehr gerne. Gerade erst habe ich auf Strumpfhosen umgestellt. Noch fällt es mir schwer, zu den derben Schuhen zu greifen. Leider sehen Strumpfhosen mit Ballerinas nicht wirklich schön aus. Die Fotos zeigen es deutlich.

I love to wear my Emery Dress by Christine Haynes. Quite now I have started to wear tights. However, I can see that they are not looking really good with ballerinas. It is hard for me to wear boots already .

 

Alle Längsnähte außer der rückwärtigen Naht (Reißverschluss!) sind als Französische Nähte gearbeitet, die Säume mit dem Schmalsaumfuß meiner Nähmaschine. Hier sieht man das Stoffmuster ganz gut:

All vertical seams without the centre back seam (zip!) are french seams, the hems are made with my sewing machine's small hem foot. This Picture is showing the print quite well.
