Checked Sierra Jumpsuit and Rise Turtleneck Papercut Patterns

My dear sewing friends,

spring is coming and I haven't posted any new me-made garment this year. So good that today, German speaking sewists are meeting at Me-Made-Mittwoch for showing our worn self made garments.

As soon as the new Geo Collection by Papercut Patterns arrived, I bought the Sierra Jumpsuit PDF pattern, printed it out and taped it together (wich I loath!). I bought some of the patterns in print, too, but couldn't wait for the jumpsuit.

I had sewn the Flint Pants by Megan Nielsen which didn't suit me at all. I loved the lovely charcoal-blue checked woolen suiting I had used so much and decided to refashion it for this jumpsuit.

I had to piece the fabric together and used the fabric on cross grain for the bodice. I cut size S graded to a M at hip level. I used a Burgundy stretch lining from my stash. Then the cut out project was waiting for a long time for me to continue. Does this happen to you too?

Luckily I was careful when cutting out and so I observed that bodice piece A has to be laid in mode inverse on the fabric, otherwise I would have had two right fronts and no left one. This doesn't matter when lining with self fabric but you do not want to have the lining on the outside!

I was courageous sewing the wide legged version while nearly all of the versions I have seen are the tapered one. 

I didn't use the back facing piece because I lined the whole jumpsuit using the pattern pieces and I shortened the lining legs by some centimeters. 

When I had sewn the jumpsuit, I puzzled about the low crotch and nearly shortened the straps to take it up.  However, when you sit down or crouch down, you need this length for the movement!

The left strap tends a little to fall down. Maybe I should have used size XS at bust level.

I was afraid how to use this garment when being at the bathroom. It is surprisingly easy. I love wearing my Sierra jumpsuit even when it's not the most flattering shape.

Guise Pants, Papercut Patterns and B4985 Blouse

Hello, my dear sewing friends,

German sewists are gathering weekly at MeMadeMittwoch. Today Tanja is showing us her new Tea dress.

I am wearing my B4985 blouse and my last year's Guise Pants by Papercut Patterns.

The blouse is one of my very first makes of 2012. I had been inspired by Carolyn who had made several versions by then. I made a version with splitted flutter cap sleeves and a collar.

I already made vertical french seams. Some years later, I shortened the bust piece because I didn't like the fit. 

The Guise Pants by Papercut Patterns are garçonne-style with front box pleats, a fly front zipper and front pockets as well as back welt pockets. 

They are very comfy to wear but not really flattering. I had a nice glencheck linnen in my stash and sew a size S. They are quite big. The waist elastic is sewn on and fixed by the belt loops so I cannot make it smaller.

Me-Made-May'16 days 19-31

Dear sewing fellows,

nearly one other month has gone since Me-Made-May'16 and I missed to show the last twelve days.

May 19 Blouse Bruyère, Deer+Doe
I still love the lovely thin lawn of Annakabazaar and enjoy wearing this shirt which is veiling my hips quite well.

May 2o Colette Patterns' Peony Dress
I made this dress some years ago. The neckline is quite nice and the wool crepe makes it easy to wear when a black garment is needed.

May 21 Archer Shirt, Version B, Grainline and Ginger Jeans, Closet Case Files.
The lovely Liberty Tana lawn and the cute derrière ruffle add up to a comfortable shirt. The high cut jeans are made out of a thin dens linnen with elastan. The waist band sadly is too wide, but it is a very versatile piece of my wardrobe.

May 22 Alma blouse, Sewaholic
This little blouse was made out of a liberty remnant. The little cap sleeves are providing good protection against burning sun.

May 23 Camì Dress, Pauline Alice
The fit of this dress is rather bad, but I so love the fabric with it's little teapots, cups, saucers, spoons and sugar cubes.

May 24 I love to wear my BleuetRobe , Deer+Doe
You can see that I love Liberty Tana Lawn! The shirt dress pattern is cute and very well fitted. There is no waist line; so sitting at the couch in the evening is not uncomfortable.

May 25 At our trip to Etna, I protected myself against the wind with my old unlined coat McCall M5525. You cannot see my white linnen shirt B4985 I once had sewn inspirated by Carolyn's lovely versions. Repeat of the linnen Ginger jeans.

May 26 Malvarosa Dress, Pauline Alice.
This was my last year's favorite dress.

May 27 Moana Dress, Papercut Patterns.
My new summer dress. The italian linnen is quite stiff and combined with the pattern not so flattering, but I love it.

May 28 Flora Dress, ByHandLondon.
This liberty dress is calling summer to me.

May 29 This viskose knit dress is a staple of my wardrobe (Garçonne).

Why the Anna dress is not the first dress I would chose to wear I don't know. Maybe the mille fleurs print with this pattern is too granny-like? 

May 31 last day of Me-Made-May'16 and of our holidays. Travelling was so comfortable in my new Guise Pants, Papercut Patterns. I paired it with another little blouse, Datura by Deer+Doe.

I loved taking part at this great international group of sewers at Instagram. However, there was a huge quantity of participants and I missed the cozy group of flickr where I had participated last year and where I had found a lovely handful of international sewing friends. I hope finding them all next year maybe at Instagram?

I had no difficulty wearing selfmade clothes every day. My intention had been to improve my ability of taking pictures. Sadly I have to admit to have failed this. I think I will try next year again!

The number of the flickr group was much lower than last year and I realised only yesterday, that the most of the MMMay pictures had been posted on instagram! Nevertheless I don't mind, because the group at flickr was such a nice, kind and supporting group.

Peter-and-the-Wolf Pants and Petrouchka Peplum Top, Me-Made-May'15 Day 4

Hello, dear sewists,

I like most of the Papercut Patterns. They have got interesting details and the fit for me is quite good. They are however quite expensive. The packages are very cute and the patterns are printed at sturdy paper.

Die Schnitte von Papercut Patterns gefallen mir fast alle. Sie sind nicht billig. Sie haben hübsche Details und bisher saß alles relativ gut. Die Verpackung ist wirklich hübsch und die Schnitte sind auf Packpapier gedruckt. Allerdings muss man das Anleitungsheft erst ausschneiden, falten und zusammenkleben. Ich bin gerade etwas erschrocken, denn beim Nachschauen habe ich gesehen, dass ich schon 6 Schnitte von Papercut Patterns habe!

Den Stoff hatte ich auf dem Freiburger Holland-Stoffmarkt für diese Hose gekauft.

Size after my body measurements would be S, but I had to sew XS and the pants are always a little loose.

Ich habe 2013 nach meinen Maßen Größe S genäht, bei den Beinen nach unten zwischen S-M. Allerdings war die Hose viel zu weit, sodass ich einiges an der Seitennaht an Weite weggenommen habe. Dadurch sind natürlich die Taschen kleiner und der Saumausschnitt ist nicht mehr mittig. Außerdem musste ich bei der Passe etwas schummeln, um keine Stufe an der Seite zu bekommen.

Bei den Nahtzugaben muss man aufpassen: 1cm!
Ich habe  den unsichtbaren RV vorne eingenäht, dass alles symmetrisch bleibt.

Eine zweite Hose habe ich in Größe XS, Länge S aus elastischem Leinen genäht, auch sie ist nicht ganz eng, aber ich mag es so. Ich würde mir die Hose wieder nähen, aber einen Ticken länger und vielleicht ohne den Saumausschnitt vorne.
